Today we did a lot of work in Joey's room. We cleaned a lot of junk out of the closet. We have quite a large box of yard sale stuff. Who knows if we'll ever have one. We'll probably get sick of looking at the boxes in the basement and throw it all away like we've done before.
We finally put away the two large boxes of stuff my mom sent us a few weeks ago. In the bottom of one of the boxers I found an envelope with copies of newspaper articles from Colombia about my great-grandfather Jesus Amortegui Pacheco. He was the founder of Colombia's first radio station, HKA, in Barranquilla. I found a copy of his marriage certificate, a copy of his marriage certificate and his provisional radio licenses issued by the government of Colombia. I even found a large portrait of him from the 1930's. I really can't wait to show it all to my Joey. I wish I had even that much about my own dad to show him. Sigh.
Well, I gotta go take more stuff to the basement. I can't wait to get a weekend where I have nothing to do so I can really clean that darn basement.

jo jo is getting big
so it feels kinda crazy that i'm carrying a 3 lb 11 oz person in my stomach. he's been moving around so much the last few days. it feels like he's moving furniture around in there. his legs are long and his feet are huge. i guess that's what happens when your dad wears a size 12 and your mom wears a size 10. is being tall a disadvantage in soccer? i hope not :)
so much to do in the next little while. gotta get the crib set up and get futon moved out of his room. i feel sorta rushed now that he's showing 31 weeks+.
he got the hiccups this morning when i woke up and it made him so mad. he would hiccup a few times and then kick the crap out of me like he was stomping his foot or something. i cant imagine that it would be comfortable to have hiccups with little tiny lungs that arent developed all the way.

Doctor Visit: 20 Nov 2006
Today was our last doctor's visit at Galen Medical with Dr. Newman. She is really awesome but we're gonna go to WWMC from now on. Lisa had the glucose test and had to drink this bottle of neon green sugary syrup crap. I felt so bad for her. I was proud of her for not puking!
We saw some more picture of Joey today! He's growing well and I think he's gonna be big! We are at 28+ weeks and he's measuring 31+!! Uh oh!
I am really confident we are doing the right thing having the baby up in Madisonville. Several people think we're crazy, but hospital birth scares us. Mostly, it's the lack of control when dealing with the medical model of care. If something bad is going to happen, it'll happen at a hospital or a birthing center. We can always transport if need be. Luckily, the midwives will come along and deliver baby at the hospital. I am hoping and praying that everything will go just fine. All signs point towards a perfectly healthy delivery and baby! Yay!
We gotta start packing up our baby bag! We need to have snacks and all that for the birthing center. I'm thinking I'll live off of Clif Bars during my labor duty.
Wow, it's so soon. So very, very soon. I can't wait!

He kicked me in the ear!
Last night, I put my ear to Lisa's tummy to see if I could hear Joey's heartbeat. I couldn't hear a heartbeat, but I could hear him squirming around. He even kicked me in the ear a few times and that sounded strangely like a drum, kind of like a djembe. I wish we had a stethoscope!
We have to get Joey's crib soon and do some furniture moving in the house. We're getting him a crib from our friends London and Cristian. I think Grandma Gail is going to get us the mattress. I can't wait until the baby room is set up. It's already cute but will be a lot cute once the futon is out and the pictures are hung.
Having a baby is cool. Everyone should do it!

first post!
Welcome to the baby sundheim blog!
Lisa's due on February 3rd, 2007. We're both really excited!
We have an appointment on Nov 14th to check out Wellness & Maternity Birthing Center in Madisonville, TN. It's a shame the Chattanooga area doesn't have a place like this. We've met a few people recently who birthed there and had good experiences.
Dr. Newman says everything is going just perfect with the pregnancy so far!!
Pictures coming soon...
